When evaluating proposals, the IFTA Research Committee (please see Research Committee page for complete listing and contact information for committee members) gives consideration to proposals with deciduous tree fruit species in the following areas:

- Enhancement of rootstock survival and adaptation Rootstock propagation (nursery management, micropropagation, etc.)
- Rootstock identification
Intensive Orchard Management Systems
- Interaction of rootstocks with tree density
- Support system
- Pruning
- Training
- New Technologies
Additional Horticultural Issues (for example)
- Tree size control (other than by rootstock)
- Solving pest and disease problems of rootstocks and interstems
Value of Research:
- Importance of research to IFTA membership
- Impact on commercial fruit growing (whole industry or a small section)
- Practical nature of findings
- Research proposal must:
